What is RSS (Really Simple Syndication) ?
Keeping up to date with all the latest news that is available on the internet is a difficult process, with web site visitors having to view lots of different websites to view news articles that they are interested in.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary) allows website owners to keep a data file that defines all of there latest news article headlines in one place.
Users can 'subscribe' to view this data file which can then be read using a News Reader program to allow users to quickly view all of the news articles that interest them.
The best description we can think of for
RSS is that it it could be described as a
personalised newspaper. You choose what type
of articles you want to read and the RSS
News Reader retrieves and
updates your news articles list ready for
viewing.
Alternatively, you can view RSS news headlines
through web browsers such as Mozilla
Firefox and the new (but as yet properly
released) Microsoft
Internet Explorer 7.
